Abstract
Elderly people that use Information Technology and Communication (ICT) at the Social Centers for Elderly People in Asturias are the object of study in the present investigation. These people if continue their activity and mobilize knowledge become guides of opinion and an asset to society, and they can contribute with their human and professional experience to guide us in social and labor challenges. A preliminary analysis allows affirming that elderly population that makes use of ICTs is a very small percentage of the total elderly population in Asturias. Thus, it is necessary to know the distinguishing characteristics (personal and socio-demographic) of this elderly users of Information Technologies and Communication, with the purpose of establishing some clear guidelines that allow extending ICS’s use to other elderly people. This is the reason why the mixed design of the investigation is focused in knowing in depth the profile of the elderly users of Information Technology and Communication at the Social Centers for Elderly People in Asturias.
