This study suggests a global methodology for the pedagogical analysis of Web-based Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL). To illustrate such proposal, a Research & Development project called APPRAISALWeb and carried out by researchers at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia is presented. Its objective is to develop a platform for the collection and pedagogical analysis of data from Web-based CALL courses and resources and make it available on the Web for the whole society. Firstly, the APPRAISALWeb Project is presented in context, including its research significance and objectives. Then, the two features on which the project is based are discussed, i.e., on the one hand, the suggestion of a theoretical model for the pedagogical analysis of CALL, and, on the other hand, the development of a computer tool available through the Web to carry out such analysis in practice. Next, some insights from research on Learning Objects Metadata Theory which can be of use in the analysis are incorporated. Finally, conclusions are drawn about the feasibility of the project and the proposed methodology, and some suggestions are made for future research work within the project.
